Listen please
I don't know what influence
I can have over children today,
But I hope they don't consider me too old
To hear what I have to say.
When you're on your holidays from school,
Keep away from the railway lines!
Because you are in mortal danger,
Years ago, they'd hand out fines,
I'm not so hot on all today's issues,
So it could be they still do,
Hand out fines for trespass,
But it was there to protect you!
Playing on the railway track,
Is a highly dangerous act!
Maybe you think it's great - a dare,
But you're going to be killed - a fact!
Just think, some children,
Were hit and killed awhile ago,
Do you not know the worry you cause?
Even if you think mum doesn't know
You are going to be killed,
By playing your silly game.
Do you realise the pain to your family?
There simply is no gain.
You see - the fast trains just cannot stop,
The most the driver can do,
Is he'll just about see you before you are hit,
He cannot stop for you!
But the total devastation,
Your death will cause to people,
You're not too young to know that,
Anyway, you should have ample
Other things to do,
But trespass on the railway.
You don't just risk death,
Us passengers have no say
Whether we live or die,
If you cause an accident.
So, please, just stay away,
This message is truly sent
With everyone's welfare at heart,
Life's too short, one day you'll know,
But until you are old enough,
To understand, don't go.
On the railway track for fun,
A laugh, or maybe a dare,
Remember, it isn't funny at all,
And, for others, isn't fair.
I guess you'll just snigger and say,
Who's she? to tell us what to do
But most know right from wrong,
So you know I'm right too!
Playing near trains and railways,
Isn't daring, it's being a fool,
So, please, find something else to do,
While you're away from school.
